This concept draws inspiration from "Third Spaces." These places are a foundation of community building, providing casual environments with little to no barriers to entry. Facilitating connection, they allow patrons to hang out with friends or meet new ones. Third places exist in an extremely wide range, including but not limited to cafes, bars, libraries, etc. They are particularly significant to marginalized communities that might not feel welcome in mainstream spaces. However, as the internet’s influence grows, and in some cases, legislation defunding them is introduced, third spaces are struggling to thrive, with more closing their doors each day. Where do we go when there are none left?
